Firstly, thank you so much for what y'all do over there! I did have some suggestions for you as far as information. It might be beneficial to talk about what the anal glands feel like upon palpation. For instance, what they most likely feel like empty and what they tend to feel like when they contain a substance. Might be good to add that not all dogs are the 'cookie cutter' 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions. Ive had several that were at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock and some that were not mirrored images. Lastly, describing what would be normal and other things you might see in the material such as blood, pus, or even odor and texture. I hope this comes across as a nice gesture and not a 'poke'. I appreciate every single one of you!
Jamie,
Those are great suggestions! And thank you for providing them, we love to hear about ways that we can improve our content. I'll add it to our list of upcoming materials we are working on.
I definitely agree that adding more detailed information would be really helpful, especially to a newer staff member in the veterinary field. If you have any additional suggestions or requests feel free to email me directly at rmedo@dovelewis.org.
Thanks Jamie!
I'm currently a student and I agree the more information the better. This was a great overview though.
was this video updated with the suggestions? For teaching purposes I agree it should have more details in the video, supplies needed, location, palpation size.
