Wouldn't you want to aspirate the needle before starting fluid administration to make sure it's in the SQ space?

Hi Jennevie,
You are correct if we were giving a medication with a needle and a syringe then we aspirate back but in the case of administering SQ fluids, we are limited in our ability to do that. The best way to tell if you are in the SQ space is to watch the drip set as the fluid should be flowing with ease and watching the fluid bubble grow. I hope that helps!
