Could you give some detail as to where the number 15,000 comes from?
Sure Terri, the number varies depending on which text you read. For example, Veterinary Technician's Manual for Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (Norkus) says 15,000-20,000. Advanced Monitoring and Procedures for Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (Burkitt Creedon and Davis) says 10,000-15,000 when making a platelet estimate. I was taught 15,000 in tech school and that is the number DoveLewis uses. You can use any of those numbers, just be sure everyone in your practice is using the same method for continuity.
Thank you so much!!! The way they keep explaining it in school makes no sense and this is a life saver!
